Medical Imaging Technologist

Radiology - our radiology team is committed to providing an efficient service at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals. We work in a social and supportive team environment and have a mix of experienced staff and students. Technologists undertake radiological procedures, prepare and assist the radiologists during special procedures and look after patients' comfort and welfare. Our department is well equipped with PACS, ultrasound, screening, MRI, theatre, CT and mammography.

Breast screening - BreastScreen Waitematā runs the national BreastScreen Aotearoa breast screening programme, that checks women for early signs of breast cancer. The working environment is varied with fixed and mobile screening clinics all focused on achieving clinical excellence. We offer opportunities for further training and networking in the form of attendance at conferences and a clinical training site for mammography post graduate courses.

Laboratory Services

We support clinical teams by providing rapid diagnostic testing and patient-monitoring services in several disciplines of pathology, and offer several hundred different types of tests on blood, body fluids and tissues. The opportunities with us are almost unlimited and potentially you could develop from junior technician to scientist to pathologist. We contribute a significant part of our budget to staff training for all laboratory staff. This includes courses, seminars and conferences. We are a flexible and innovative team and work with people to make the most of their individual strengths. We also work closely with all other medical laboratories in New Zealand and are well respected for our support of staff training and development.
