Paediatrician - SMO

Waitemata District Health Board is the largest DHB in New Zealand providing services to a population of more than 630,000 and employing more than 8,000. Our organisation values and promise statement – Best Care for Everyone - serve to inspire us to continuously improve to provide the best care possible to each and every person, and their family.

We would love to hear from paediatricians with broad skills in General Paediatrics. The position will be based primarily at North Shore Hospital, and require confidence and experience in level 2 neonatal care.

Contribution to emergency and inpatient paediatrics at Waitakere Hospital will be included within the role.

We deliver outpatient clinics across a mixture of hospital and community sites including visiting clinics to the Rodney region. Involvement in Gateway clinics, community paediatrics, and regional initiatives can be discussed with the successful applicant.

Our services are supportive, committed to teaching, and provide exposure to a diverse range of clinical experience. Opportunity to explore and contribute to areas of special interest is supported. We have a popular registrar rotation within the Auckland regional training scheme.

The role will include an on-call commitment with weekends and evenings at 1:7 frequency for full time staff.

This role is very suitable for a newly qualified SMO, and we are keen to support Paediatricians who are in their final year of training towards FRACP to compete their requirements. We can tailor some aspects of the role to specific identified training needs, and provide appropriate supervision.

We can discuss commencement date with suitable applicant, and while early start date preferred, can be flexible for the right candidate.
